Significant variations in the incomes of immigrant artists by province
Also: analysis of racialized and non-racialized artists
Two weeks ago, I showed that artists who are immigrants to Canada have relatively low incomes. In that post, covering only nationwide data, I examined the differences between racialized and non-racialized immigrants.
Last week, I examined the representation of immigrants among artists, arts leaders, and all cultural workers in each province and in the three territories.
Today, I analyze provincial and regional data on the median incomes of immigrant artists, including differences between racialized and non-racialized immigrants.
Because of concerns over data reliability, differences between racialized and non-racialized immigrants are not examined in two Atlantic provinces (Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland and Labrador) or in the territories.
Sponsors: Please let me know if an intersectional analysis of immigration, racialization, gender, and education is something that you would like me to pursue for your jurisdiction. I believe that there might be some interesting findings there.
Other notes regarding methods are provided at the end of this post.
